  • On the other side of that canasta hand you just might find a new friend. At Friendship Centers, people are playing pinochle and mah-jongg, enjoying ballroom dancing, and growing stronger through yoga. You can also meet others while you try your hand at woodcarving or quilting.

The Centers’ mission is to promote health, dignity, and quality of life throughout the journey of aging, so beyond meeting seniors’ social needs it can also provide respite. If you’re exhausted from caring for a family member with cognitive or medical challenges, there is also a nurturing day program for your loved one and support for you.

Another form of support is the group’s volunteer physicians and dentists who offer their services to those over 50 who are uninsured or on a limited income. Watch for one of the many community events held throughout the year through the website, friendshipcenters.org, or through our monthly newspaper, Prime Times.

You can kick up your heels at a dance party or sit down to a candlelight dinner, all while helping older adults through your purchase of a ticket or through a sponsorship.
