Venice MainStreet is delighted to have Helen Moore join its Board of Directors this summer. She brings her enthusiasm and decades of experience serving the Venice community, which will benefit the organization tremendously. Helen has been a partner of Venice MainStreet for many years and was on its Board of Directors in the 1990s, when the organization was in its early years.
Helen reflected, “Among the reasons I’ve held the organization in high regard for all these years is the Mission, Vision and Purpose statements and the consistent energy, talent and enthusiasm provided by the amazing, small army of volunteers and partners. Their love of our main street area must be contagious because so many people express the same sentiment!”
Many citizens of Venice will recognize Helen for her current Seat 3 position on City Council for the City of Venice, which she has held since 2018. She has served on the Code Enforcement Board, on a citizens advisory group, and spent five years on the City Planning Commission.
Helen’s own Venice experiences started in the early 1980s when her father moved here and she became a frequent visitor. She officially became a year-round homeowner and library card-carrying resident in 1990. By 1992, Helen started her career as a fulltime Realtor and hopes to continue doing so for a long time to come. She soon became involved in the Realtor organization’s activities and made contact with other local organizations. She was a Big Sister and volunteered as a mentor for people awaiting their chance for a home through Habitat for Humanity.
Becoming a member of Venice Area Chamber of Commerce was a great opportunity and venue for Helen to get to know and be known in the business community. She served on the Venice Area Board of Realtors (VABR) Board of Directors for many years and as chair of many committees as president in 2001. She is currently the treasurer of VABR and was honored as Realtor of the Year in 2003 and again in 2019. Helen has also served on many committees and advisory groups for the Florida Realtors organization, its Board of Directors, and as District Vice President for the five-county area. Helen was a charter member of South County Tiger Bay Club and is a huge fan and member of the Board of Directors of Venice Area Beautification Inc., where she currently serves as treasurer.
Originally from Terre Haute, Indiana, Helen returns there to visit her son and his family as often as she can and to also spend time in Baltimore with her daughter and her family. We look forward to what Helen will bring to Venice MainStreet and are grateful for her commitment to make historic downtown Venice a vibrant, thriving place to be.
